Crack Glasgow Team Relive A Headlining Fire Restoration Challenge, One Year On
It’s coming up to a year ago that the Rainbow International branch for the Highlands and Glasgow West succeeded in meeting what remains one of its biggest fire restoration challenges yet.
The Ice Factor in Glencoe is home to the World’s largest indoor Ice Climbing wall and also houses various rock climbing walls, kitchens, a café, bar, soft play area, changing rooms, a fully stocked shop and offices. The Rock Climbing walls are used for practice by the Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team on a regular basis.
The centre had suffered an accidental fire in July 2015 which had started in the Sauna causing extensive damage to the sauna room itself but with smoke having also travelled throughout the 120 year old building.
The Ice Factory had initially tried to clean up after the fire themselves but soon realised they needed to call in specialist fire restoration experts to get the business back up and running in the shortest possible time. Following independent referrals from three loss adjusters, The Ice Factory appointed their local Highlands and West Glasgow branch of Rainbow International to take on this serious fire restoration challenge.
How Rainbow tackled the fire damage
Rainbow arranged for special cherry pickers and mobile scaffolding to be hired in so the team could reach the top of the affected areas and enable work to be carried out in various areas of the building at the same time.
Rainbow’s staff were already trained in working at heights so were able to get to work straight away putting their skills to full use. Rainbow also had to hire mobile scaffolding to allow for work to be carried out in various parts of the property at the same time.
The interior fittings, which had suffered the most fire damage including the walls and seating etc in the sauna room were ripped out.
The team’s Ultrasonic Cleaning System was brought in specially to clean all the 500+ hand/foot holds of the climbing wall.
Due to the location of the property and the usual influx of tourists Glencoe enjoys in the summer, staff had to stay in caravans during work at the property as all the local hotels and guest houses were full.
Rainbow’s staff worked alongside the business owner, Jamie and his team who were making changes to the property while it was closed, including the installation of a new climbing wall and making changes to the café and bar areas.
The Rainbow team later returned to complete a final clean of the huge property.
Rainbow’s fire restoration completed in record time
Rainbow’s Highlands team was able to complete the whole job across a total of 18 working days at the property. They completed the final clean on 11th March and the venue reopened on Friday 18th March 2016.
The Ice Factory’s Jamie Smith commented afterwards: “I want to express my sincere thanks for the work from the team. Jim has been an exceptional ambassador for the company and the entire crew have tackled a huge job with alacrity and aplomb. I would highly recommend that in future, if you have a client who needs cleaning contractors, Rainbow should be your first port of call.”
